As part of the faculty’s commitment to integrating theoretical study with practical training, the Department of Radio and Television organized a field visit for its students to the Media Production City. The visit was held under the patronage of Professor Dr. Tarek Ali, President of the University, and Professor Dr. Mamdouh Mekawy, Dean of the Faculty, and supervised by Professor Dr. Nesreen Hossam El-Din, Vice Dean for Education and Students’ Affairs, and Dr. Shahenda Atef, Head of the Radio and Television Department.
During the visit, the students toured several studios, editing and production halls, where they gained first-hand insight into the latest technologies used in the media industry and learned about the workflow within satellite channels. They also listened to detailed explanations from specialists about the stages of preparing television programs—from concept development to on-screen broadcasting.
The tour also included visits to various districts within the Media Production City, such as the Alexandria District, which is used for filming drama and cinematic works, and the Rural District, which reflects the authentic features of the Egyptian countryside. The students also explored a number of open studios designed to simulate diverse environments that support dramatic and television production. This allowed them to understand how these themed districts are utilized in producing artistic and media content.
The students expressed their happiness with this experience, which provided them with an opportunity to connect their academic coursework with practical reality. They affirmed that the visit broadened their perspectives and enhanced their skills in the field of visual and audio media.
For his part, the Dean emphasized that such field visits fall within the faculty’s strategy to enhance students’ competencies and prepare them for the media job market.
